Short version: ActiTrack does not sell or share your personal data with third parties. Your health, location, and activity data stays on your device and in your private iCloud account. If you choose to subscribe to updates, only your email address is stored on our servers — never sold or shared.
1. Who We Are
ActiTrack is developed and maintained by the ActiTrack team ("we", "us", or "our"). If you have any questions about this policy, please contact us at support.actitrack@gmail.com.
2. What Data We Collect and Why
ActiTrack requests access to several device capabilities to provide its features. Here is exactly what is accessed and why:
2.1 Health Data HealthKit
What: Step count, walking distance, and active energy burned.
Why: To display your daily and weekly activity progress in the app.
Where it goes: Read locally from Apple Health on your device. Never uploaded to our servers or shared with anyone.
2.2 Location GPS
What: Precise GPS coordinates while a walk is in progress.
Why: To trace your route on the map and to share your live location with trusted contacts during a Safe Walk session.
Background location: Used only when a walk or Safe Walk is actively running, to keep tracking when your screen turns off.
Where it goes: Stored on your device. If you enable Safe Walk, your live location is shared directly with the contacts you choose via your iCloud private database — not with us.
2.3 Motion & Fitness CoreMotion
What: Accelerometer and pedometer data.
Why: To count your steps accurately during a walk.
Where it goes: Processed entirely on-device. Never stored or transmitted.
2.4 Contacts Contacts
What: Names and phone numbers of contacts you explicitly select.
Why: To let you add trusted people to your Safe Walk emergency contact list.
Where it goes: Stored locally on your device. We never upload your address book.
2.5 iCloud / CloudKit Sync iCloud
What: Your walk sessions, activity records, and app preferences.
Why: To sync your data across your own Apple devices.
Where it goes: Your private iCloud container. Only you can access this data through your Apple ID. We have no access to it.
2.6 Authentication Sign in with Apple
What: An anonymous Apple-provided user identifier if you use the Friends or Leaderboard features.
Why: To identify your account when sharing a leaderboard with friends.
Where it goes: Stored in your private CloudKit database. Your email is never revealed to us unless you explicitly choose to share it via Sign in with Apple.
2.7 Email Address Optional
What: Your email address, only if you choose to subscribe to product updates.
Why: To notify you about new features, tips, and announcements. We send at most 1–2 emails per month.
Where it goes: Stored on our Cloudflare Worker server. It is never sold, rented, or shared with any third party.
Optional: Subscribing is entirely voluntary. You can skip it during onboarding, sign up later in Settings → Account → Email Updates, and unsubscribe any time from the bottom of any email we send.
3. Data We Do NOT Collect
We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA) or any ad tracking.
We do not use third-party analytics SDKs (no Firebase, Amplitude, Mixpanel, etc.).
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data to any third party.
We do not use your health data for advertising or share it with data brokers.
We do not have access to your iCloud data.
We do not collect your email unless you explicitly opt in to updates.
4. Diagnostics & Crash Logs
ActiTrack uses Apple's native MetricKit framework to receive anonymized crash and performance reports through the App Store. This data is provided by Apple in aggregated, anonymized form and does not include any personally identifiable information. You can opt out in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
5. Children's Privacy
ActiTrack is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
6. Your Rights
Because all your data is stored on your own device and in your own iCloud account, you are in full control:
Delete your data: Delete the app. All local data is removed automatically.
Revoke permissions: Go to iOS Settings → ActiTrack to revoke Health, Location, Contacts, or Motion access at any time.
iCloud data: Manage or delete your iCloud data through iOS Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud.
Email opt-out: Tap the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or contact us at support.actitrack@gmail.com and we will delete your address within 30 days.
7. Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
